School of Botany, established in 1957, is one of the leading Departments of college in the field of teaching and research. The School has been declared as "Star Performer" Department by the UGC under CPE Programme. It offers UG, P.G. and M.Phil. Programme. The Botanical garden of the Department has remained as the unique identity in the state having a good number of medicinal plants. One "Herbal Garden", a "Green House" and a "Mist Chamber" have been set up with the assistance of CPE Grant. The department is marching ahead keeping pace with the advancement in science accepting a new challenge in frontier areas of Plant Sciences and research. It publishes a scientific journal "BIOHELICA" and organizes National Seminar at time intervals.
To emerge into a centre for excellence of innovative research, teaching and outreach of the pattern and the processeses of life of plants and their environments.
