(Auto) College) Odisha started in the year 1973 with 32 seats for Intermediate Science and Arts and in the year 1975, 16 seats for the graduation classes was opened. Only in 1981, Honours in Statistics was introduced with 24 seats for both Science and Arts stream. Since then, this department has been catering to the needs of the students.The Department imparts a three-years BA/B.Sc.(Hons.),two years M.A/M.Sc.in Statistics as regular courses. The Department also offers Ph.D. Programmes in Statistics with specialisation in Survey Sampling, Operations Research,Applied Statistics and Econometrics. The faculty members have published books,good number of research articles and peer reviewed journals with National and International repute. The Alumni of this Department have been serving in maximum national level institute,industries in the country and abroad as well. The Course curriculum has been updated as per the requirements of U.G.C NET, Indian Statistical and Civil Cervices Exams, industry,health,finance and corporate sectors.

To be a Centre of Excellence of International Standards in Teaching,Research and Training in Statistics to produce human resources at Post Graduate and Doctoral Levels and conttribute to new knowledge in different fields of Applied Sciences.
