To utilize native concepts and categories for understanding the pre vailing disparities v, deprivation and diversities in Odisha.To promote research as a profo und components by emphasizing field work as a tradition revolving around pertinent concret e issues. To grow as a centre of excellence witnessing diversity in specializations thereby retaining Sociology of Odisha as one of the major thrust areas . The faculties are highly educated , experienced and research oriented .Syllabus is students friendl y as mostly of them opted the subject for NET , GATE , SET ,JRF,OPSC AND UPSC , development s ector and others related field .The Research orientation and practices in the department helps the student s to know and understand the society , social issues , social processes in a better way. Our system of field exposer should be encourage with support so that students can have a better understanding of the society with proper guidance. Students should be encourage to take applied sociology both at UG and PG level . The faculty members in the department are well qualified and experienced to accomplish the assigned task within given timeline where consideration is there for the best inte rest of the students The suggested timeline in the school is Ideal, and students may devi ate as necessary in consultation with the faculty members . M.A student s in Sociology are guided through Theory and Practical classes ( Field vis its where emphasis is there to adopt near by village ) for Thesis submission as per the guidelines . Our goal is for Ph.D. students to graduate within Five years with publications and Research experience needed to succeed in their career. The Syllabus changes in every six months keeping in due consideration the interest of students , future research viability and trend in the subject in leading universities . A variet y of writing ,communication , participation and presentation assignments (within the unive rsity and outside the university ) are their to help the students to demonstrate their know edge and research skills , ability to apply and synthesis abstract concepts and Theories , so t heir critical thinking skills . We have ensure a data base of all our students and have li nked them through WhatsApp , email , internet , YouTube for better coordination and communic ation in the process of teaching and learning .
